This is Major now, he is doing very well with his training, I have been riding him YEAH!! I’m working with the trainer and we are both doing very well. This weekend I lunged him myself with the lunge line and I rode him today!!! So excited to have been able to ride him without the trainer there and seeing how well he did made me so happy, we are starting to become a team!!!
This photo was taken a year ago when I was still recovering from my back injury. We had stayed working on free lunging and ground manners. We became very connected through the year. I had someone ride him for me but I wasn’t ready to rode him myself.
This is a photo of Major the day I got him in September 2012, he wouldn’t engage with me at all and had no interest in getting to know me but through patience and love we have a bond that is getting stronger every day. I sent him for training in October of 2012; I’m a novice rider; so the day I went to the trainers to ride him I got him confused by giving pressure with my legs and pulling on the reins to slow him down, the result was that he bucked me off and I compressed to vertebrae in my upper back and cracked a rib. It took months for me to recover and most of that recovery I owe to Major.
